A Bit About Me
Here you can read a bit about me and my teaching philosophy.

I still remember walking into my first teaching seminar. Only a few years older than the students I was teaching, I was astonished when they went silent as I came through the door – I never got used to that! But, from that first seminar, I realised I loved teaching.
There’s something about addressing a problem with students – understanding how they approach it and what ideas, tools and gaps in knowledge they bring to the table – before exploring various different approaches to answering it that I find hugely rewarding.
Although each student’s needs are different – and will thus require a constantly adapting teaching practice – I generally adopt a problem based learning approach. This mimics how we approach the world: as a series of problems for which we must gather resources and techniques in order to address.
Problem-based learning
An educational approach that uses identified issues within a scenario to increase knowledge and understanding (Wood 2003).

‘The TEACHER! oh God he was Great. Seriously You people should give that guy an award. He really tried hard in that class. His profound knowledge on various topics and subjects really helped a lot in class. It’s like Chris was a human dictionary. And he also had a really persuasive and good way of passing on and expressing his points. But honestly he really helped me understand really difficult concepts in class even when i asked the most deep questions they were still no challenge for this guy.

‘The lecturer is excellent at explaining the topics and shows us videos that are related to the subject. He also interacts with the
students a lot.’

‘Chris Henry has been an excellent facilitator of free-flowing discussion in the seminars which often (beneficially) strayed into areas of
philosophy outside the immediate discussion topic. Chris both encouraged and challenged opinions in a knowledgeable and always
respectful way . The seminars were most enjoyable as a result

‘Chris Henry has been a delight. He has made politics very interesting and analytical which is something that not many teachers can
do. In addition, his way of teaching makes us think outside of the box’.
